Advanced Cosmetic Procedures Treatment Advice

This guide outlines important pre-treatment and aftercare instructions, as well as possible side effects, to help you achieve the best results from your treatment.

Pre-Treatment Advice:

To ensure the treatment is carried out safely and effectively, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:

  • Avoid sunbeds and excessive sun exposure for 48 hours prior to treatment.

  • Do not apply self-tan or tinted products to the treatment area before your appointment.

  • Avoid alcohol or caffeine for 12–24 hours before treatment, as this may increase skin sensitivity.

  • Do not apply heavy makeup, creams, or oils to the treatment area on the day of treatment.

  • Avoid waxing, threading, or other hair removal methods on the area for 48 hours prior.

  • Inform your therapist if you are taking medication that may affect skin healing or sensitivity.

  • If you have active infections, open wounds, cold sores, or inflamed skin, treatment may need to be postponed.

Possible Side Effects

Advanced electrolysis works by targeting specific skin lesions and it is normal to experience some temporary skin responses:

  • Redness and mild swelling in the treated area

  • Small scabs, crusts, or scratches as the skin heals

  • Tenderness or sensitivity in the treatment area

  • Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin

  • Slight pinpoint marks immediately after treatment

These effects are part of the normal healing process and usually settle within a few days to a few weeks, depending on the concern treated.

After-Care Instructions

Proper aftercare is essential to support healing and minimise the risk of pigmentation changes:

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry for at least 24 hours, 48 hours if possible.

  • Apply Aloe Vera to the area at least twice a day, until the scab naturally heals and falls away. You will be given Aloe Vera at your appointment.

  • Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the area while it heals to avoid scarring and pigmentation changes.

  • Do not apply makeup, perfumed products, or active skincare to the area for 24 - 48 hours.

  • Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, and heat treatments (such as saunas and steam rooms) for 48 hours. If area treated is on the face or neck, be mindful of an immediate hit of steam from opening an oven door or dishwasher during this time, and make sure to look away to avoid steam hitting the face.

  • Apply SPF 30 or higher daily to protect the treated area.

  • Avoid direct sunlight on the area during the healing process - wear sunglasses and/or sun hat, depending on the area treated

  • Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and intense exercise for 24 - 48 hours.

  • Allow any small scabs to heal naturally without interference to prevent scarring or pigmentation changes.

  • Avoid hot baths or showers for 24 - 48 hours. Keep the temperature tepid to avoid lots of steam, and avoid saturating the area in water for long periods of time while it heals.

  • If you have not yet booked your review appointment, please book this in for 2 weeks' time.
