body contouring treatment advice
This guide outlines important pre-treatment advice, possible side effects, and aftercare instructions to help you get the most from your contouring treatment.
Pre-Treatment Advice:
To ensure the treatment is safe and effective, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:
Drink plenty of water (at least 1–2 litres) in the 24 hours before treatment to support the lymphatic system.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 12–24 hours before treatment, as these can contribute to dehydration.
Avoid heavy meals immediately before your appointment.
Do not apply heavy lotions, oils, or creams to the treatment area on the day of treatment.
Avoid sunbeds or excessive sun exposure to the treatment area for 48 hours prior.
Inform your therapist if you have any medical conditions, metal implants, or are taking medications that may affect treatment suitability.
Treatment cannot be carried out if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or certain medical conditions affecting circulation or the liver.
Possible Side Effects:
Body contouring treatments are generally well tolerated, but some temporary effects may occur:
Mild redness or warmth in the treated area
Temporary tenderness or sensitivity
Slight swelling in the treatment area
Some clients may hear a high-pitched ringing in the ears during cavitation, which is normal and temporary
Rarely, mild bruising or sensitivity
These effects usually settle within a few hours to 72 hours.
After-Care Instructions:
Following the correct aftercare will help maximise your results and support the body’s natural fat elimination process:
Drink at least 1.5–2 litres of water per day for several days after treatment to support lymphatic drainage.
Engage in light exercise such as walking within 24 hours, as this helps stimulate the lymphatic system.
Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine for 24–48 hours after treatment.
Follow a healthy, balanced diet and try to limit high-fat or high-sugar foods after treatment.
Avoid very hot baths, saunas, or steam rooms for 24 hours.
The treated area may benefit from gentle massage to encourage lymphatic drainage.
For best results, follow the recommended course of treatments advised by your therapist and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
You may need to urinate more frequently over the following 72 hours. This is a normal response.
Full results will be seen 72 hours after treatment.
